Pirate Kings has two parallel progression systems running simultaneously: island building and card set completion. The most efficient free-to-play approach keeps both advancing in sync - attacking during card events to farm rare cards while building toward island completion with the coin income those attacks generate.
The Dual-Track Priority Rule
Pirate Kings rewards players who manage both the island building track and the card set track simultaneously. Ignoring either one means leaving spin rewards on the table.
The Dual-Track Priority Rule works like this: when a card event is active, all attacks go toward the event-targeted island regardless of which island you are currently building on. Card set completion bonuses are large enough that one focused attack session during an event can pay for the remainder of your current island build. When no event is active, direct attacks toward whichever island will generate the coin income needed to complete your current build.
This approach maximizes both income streams without requiring more spins - just better timing of which island you target with each attack session.

Four Strategy Traps to Avoid
Advancing to a New Island Before Completing the Current One
Island completion triggers a bonus payout of coins and spins. Leaving a partially built island to start a new one forfeits this payout entirely. Always finish the island you are on before spending coins on a new destination, even if the next island appears more attractive.
Attacking Randomly Instead of Event-Targeted Islands
During card events, rare card drop rates are elevated for attacks on specific island types. Attacking any available island rather than the event-targeted one means you miss the rare card drop boost. Always check the active event before choosing your attack target - one focused session during an event can complete a card set that would otherwise take weeks.
Spreading Card Set Progress Across Multiple Sets Simultaneously
Card set completion bonuses only pay out when a set is fully completed. Collecting cards for five sets simultaneously without completing any of them earns nothing. Focus all card-farming attacks on one set until it is complete, then move to the next. The spin reward from one completed set is worth more than scattered progress across several.
Spending Coins on Buildings During Active Attack Events
During island attack events, coin income from attacks is elevated. Spending your coin balance on buildings mid-event means you have fewer coins to build with at the end of the event when your total is highest. Wait until the event concludes, tally your full coin income, then spend on buildings in a single efficient session.
